The Our Lady of Assumption Church, also known as Dauis Church is one of the most notable churches in Bohol. It is located not far from the bridge that connects Panglao with Bohol.
The Virgin of the Assumption is the town’s patron saint is said to provide for the town’s people and believed to possess miraculous powers.
An old legend relates that once, during the Dutch invasion, the people of Dauis locked themselves into the church. However, they soon ran out of provisions and water. Then a miracle occurred: a well appeared at the foot of the altar. This same well is still the main source of water for people living close to the church. It is said that the water coming from the well have healing powers causing strung of devotees flocking the church.
And although the well is only a few meters from the sea, the water is fresh. So don’t forget to bring a bottle to fill with the miraculous water when you go here.
One would also notice the grand design and interiors of the church.
At the back of the church is an open area where I think they hold activities. Its nice for wedding receptions as it faces the sea.
