Manila Yellow Airport Taxi

I frequently fly to and from Manila so i often use airport taxis. I’ve tried all of them, from the regular cabs, to the first airport taxi (they call this coupon taxi). Now, they have another type of airport cab that you will see in Naia 2 (centenial airport) and Naia 3.

I call it the Yellow Airport Taxi.

Unlike the coupon taxi where you’ll pay a fixed amount based on where you are headed, the yellow airport taxi’s uses the taxi meter. However, their flag down rate is much higher than regular cabs – P70.00. OUCH!

Then, P4.00 for every drop of the meter. OUCH!

But compared to the coupon cabs… this is much cheaper for me.. But really, the cheapest would have to be the regular cabs. Then just add P50.00 as tip.

I’ve listed down the meter charge from NAIA terminal 2 up to certain parts of the metro – eastern portion.

From NAIA Terminal 2 to:

  • NAIA terminal 3 = 70.00
  • The fort / Market Market =220.00
  • Ortigas (via C5) = 320.00
  • Libis = 330.00
  • SM Marikina = 350.00
  • Riverbanks =370.00
  • Bluewave Marikina = 400.00
  • Parang Marikina = 460.00

If i were to ride a coupon airport taxi going to Marikina, i would have to pay P790.00. Yeah.. double the pay!

Now you know.

Can I ask which taxi company do you recommend most when GOING to NAIA?

NANGYARI NA BA ITO SA INYO?

I always take the yellow airport taxi sa airport when I arrive from a trip. So yun uli ang ginawa ko when we arrived from China. Me and the rest of the Fellas lined up to get our own cabs that would take us home.

When I got mine, napansin ko na parang hindi naka-ON yung metro ng taxi. So I called the attention of the driver.

Me: “Kuya, hindi yata naka-ON yung metro nyo”

DRIVER: “Naka-ON yan, naka-CENTRALIZE na kasi kami”

Me: “Centralize? paano yun? Paano ko malalaman yung running total nung metro?

Hmmmmm…. Medyo shady yata ah… at this point, I texted the rest of the Fellas and asked them kung ganun din ba yung nasakyan nila. Two of them said, hindi raw. At may amount naman yung metro nila. But one said pareho kami ng situation. Kesyo CENTRALIZED ek ek daw.”

I started asking the driver questions.

May computerized device ba kayo rito? Mala-wireless transmitter? via satelite ba? GPS? (at kung anu-ano na ang sinabi ko)

And this time, I started texting again, and LOUDLY, I said…

      TUMAHIMIK YUNG DRIVER.

and after a few seconds, he pulled over.

      Me: “Kuya, bakit? ano’ng nangyari?

DRIVER: “Nasiraan yata tayo. Biglang namatay yung makina”

Me: “Ows? so paano na yan?”

He just said, “Kumuha na lang kayo ng ordinary taxi”

The name of the driver is LUIZ nga pala.

I don’t really know if this system of theirs is legit, but it is really very shady to me. Kung legit man ito, at least they should be able to explain to their passenger properly.

  2. How safe are these? I heard lots of horror stories where people get robbed or even kidnapped.

  3. Very Safe.
I ride these taxis every 2 months.

  4. I took a few hours on Google and researching a bit about “Taxi or Cab service” worldwide and the rules that differ from one country to another, the fares, city regulations, and even the danger we all can face at times. But I haven’t found a great resource for “Cab drivers” to share their experiences, tips etc.. if you know of any, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you

  17. Taxis in the Philipines are regulated yet, implementation of the rules and regulations are not being followed strictly, worst, the monitoring is not consistent.

Here’s what a Filipino taxi company in London could share when getting a taxi from the airport in Manila

First time traveller in Manila – get an official airport taxi so that iF something went wrong, you have trails to follow

Get a reputable taxi company, scout around.

Get the names, ID of the driver and plate of the car.

Secure a receipt and booking confirmation.

You don’t have to tip the driver yet, if you are happy with the service, do so.

    I hope this is helpful.

If any of you needed a chauffeured taxi in London Heathrow Airport, puwede po kayong mag book sa amin. Google our company for independent reviews. Salamat po.

  18. Helena Hechanova

Nagbayad kami ng 893 pesos from NAIA 1 to Libis, QC. Wala din resibo binigay ang driver. Too bad I forgot to take down the plate number and body number. I was just relieved to arrive safely sa apartment. How can we encourage tourists to come when sa airport pa lang ang sama na ng experience?

  19. Im dying to complaint the driver of airport taxi from T1 with plate number TYT 521 Metered taxi. Share ko lang ang deal ko is ibaba ako sa megamall dahil nagkainitan na ng ulo between me and the driver sabi nya ksi kung cainta ako pupunta 1,100 ang charge nila so sabi ko huling umuwi ako hangang pasig rainforest 280 lang binayad ko so pag floodway 1,100 agad? E ang lapit na nun and the i remember 670 ang fixed rate nung july na huli akong ng inquire pa floodway cainta kya ngdecide ako na pa rainforest pasig nlng then ngayon gabing to i decided na magpahatid na nga lang sa

bumaba nlang daw ako ng taxi at maghanap ng
iba in the middle of nowhere pababainmo ko ng taxi??? With all my luggage!!!!

  20. parang ayaw ko nang magtrabaho sa Manila… the horror stories are just too many from taxi to mandurukot

  21. 1995, I went home to Baliwag and take taxi from Manila International Airport and charge me $60 dollars and for the second time I went home
again in 2008 and the taxi driver charge me $100 dollars. My only comment is because of increase of living condition of the Filipinos and as
    everything is changing everyday.

  22. how much would it approximately cost from NAIA to Intramuros White Knight hotel?

  31. Try calling this number 0905 330 9196 … A friend referred this drivers number and is so honest daw…

My daughter took a yellow taxi ride (plate no. TXS 179) early this morning (Wednesday, September 12, 2012) from PAL domestic airport to Taft Avenue and was charged P474.00 for the trip. Worse was, when she took a look at the receipt, it was dated July 4, 2012.

  35. how much will it cost me for a ride from terminal2 to imus, cavite?

  36. how much is from manila T1 to dimaond hotel?

  37. normal Taxi rate T1 to Diamond Hotel via Roxas Blvd is 150 or 200 max. but kung taripahan ang basehan, mga 250 siguro ang charge using yellow airport taxi.

for Secured taxi service outside the airport, MGE, EMP, R&E, Taxi’s are tested.

Malaysia has also the same modus when it comes to taxi. ingat lang at konting alisto. i am also from the visayas province, but since my travel sa manila way back late 80’s (college days) and up to this time, never pa naman may nagyari sa akin na ganun.

don’t hesitate or be shy to ask around, especially to known frequent travelers or read blogs like this, etc. just to be inform

tsaka in situation na in-doubt ka, try to challenge the person. a good example is my experience. pumara ako ng taxi at nagka sundo kami sa destination, nung pa upo na ako, sabi ng driver “sir, magkano bigay mo?” sabi ko metro tayo. sabi niya “e sira sir eh” na sense ko na ang maging next line niya, which is asking for a higher rate….ang nangyari, in a polite way, sabi ko sa driver, bossing pagawa mo muna ang metro mo para walang hassle sayo at sa pasajero mo. sabay bumaba na ako sa taxi na iyon.

yun lang po. always a safe trip to all of us

  40. Hi. So this blog was back in 2009 I take it. I’m from Marikina and I’m coming home for the holidays (Christmas til New years 2013). I just want to ask how much is taxi fare from NAIA to Marikina now. Thanks!

    • Hi Judy, its 400-450 pesos

      • Hi thanks for the response! Ask ko lang ulit, is that amount for Yellow Airport Taxi or regular taxi? My husband and his buddy are with me (they’re both white) and they both have their sports equipment with them aside from my baby which I will also bring along a car seat and of course our luggages. I’ve read here different bad experiences at ang dami pa sa ibang blogs so ngayon pa lang kinakabahan na ako at baka kahihiyan lang naghihintay sa akin. So there’s a probability na the taxi driver would ask extra charge since we got so many stuff with us. How much do you think is the reasonable amount if in case the driver ask for it? There are so many scenarios I’m imagining right now and I’m getting all stressed out. I know there are honest drivers out there too pero ang konti lang nila for sure and there’s no guarantee we’ll end up with a trustworthy one. I’m debating with myself now which taxi service should we use. Would a coupon taxi be better as opposed to getting a regular taxi? Thanks!

  41. Judy, there are 3 types of taxis at the airport
    1. Regular
    2. Yellow
    3. Coupon.

If you use the the coupon taxi you’ll pay around Php700 (to marikina) but you will use a tamaraw FX or a van type of taxi – this is the best option if you say na may equipment kayong dala.
As to the tip, i normally give Php 50. But siguro in your case, gawin mo nalang Php100 or kahit 200 siguro. Pero not more than that.

    • Hi. Thanks a lot for a very detailed info. Now I know what to do.

    • Hi. So, nag coupon taxi kmi. Graaabeee ang presyuhan nila ginto! From T3 lang to FB Harrison sa Mabuhay Manor siningil na kmi agad ng Php1,200. Then from T3 to Marikina 1,700. Tapos nun I contacted the people that assisted my husband pra ihatid kmi ulit airport. Pagdating ng T4 2k na singil! They didn’t mention that there’s another pick up fee of 300 aside from their 1700 fixed rate pag Marikina! Sobrang taga inabot nmin!!!

Naia 1 to SM Sn LAzaro. salamat

  44. from airport to taytay rizal,php.2100?

  55. Now in this era you can experience improved airport transportation service at different airports of the world. I found London Airport Taxi the best among them.

  56. hi anyone knows how much is the taxi fare from NAIA 1 to terminal 3,its either yellow cab or the coupon taxi or etc.????

  57. I’ve used the yellow taxi from T3 to the Victory Liner terminal in Pasay City along EDSA several times between 2010 – 2012 and found it really efficient and a lot safer compared to when I used to take taxis from T1. I even commented on how it is less stressful now and made recommendations to fellow travelers. But these were during the times when I would arrive in Manila during daytime. I may be arriving this time during midnight at T1 and from reading some of the comments here and other sites, using taxis from there now appears to be a scary prospect. Umuuwi po ako sa Pampanga and I find it convenient, and cheaper by 90%, to take the bus and taxi, rather than renting a car for airport hatid or sundo. I do not have much luggage either so a large vehicle is not a must. Until the last taxi ride I took when I left Feb this year, I paid the usual taxi fare of P200 only (including tip). I am used to traveling alone, here and abroad, but this time I am having second thoughts whether it would be wiser to just spend a bit more if coming out of T1 at midnight might mean meeting unscrupulous drivers, which would just make me mad, and would make me feel even worse. 🙂 What would you advise? Thanks

    • HI Meriam, if you are coming from T1, then the taxi driver knows that you came from abroad. It is still better to take the bus to Pampanga – cheaper and safer. But if you would like to try to use a cab going to Pampanga, here are my Tips:
      1. dress down. don’t wear super fancy clothes.
      2. Make the driver realize that this is not the first time that you took a cab to pampanga.

  59. Hi guys,
We are heading to manila in two days, and have to take a cap to bus terminal cubao, possibly in the evening. We have a double surfboard bag. After reading all the scary stories about taxi drivers in manila I wanted to inform myself how much approx it should cost a ride from airport to cubao. How much they might charge for a surfing bag?

    Thanks a lot,

    Ewa

    • Hi Eva. Since you have surfboard bags, DONT get the Yellow taxi. Get the white airport service (vans). You’ll see them immediately when exiting the airport. Then say that you’ll be going to Cubao.it should be less than 1k pesos. just give a tip to the driver (200 is ok). If they say there’s an additional, fee aside from the base fare and the tip, you tell them “according to my friend from LTO, I should only pay the base fare and give a good tip”. They’ll get scared if you tell them that.

    • Hey Ewa,

How did you go? I fly in to Manila next week and also will have a surfboard bag, hotel is in Makati. How much did you end up paying and which taxi did you take?

      • Hey Nev,

long time ago…don’t remember exactly but I know that I paid less than 1k pesos in total for sure and we agreed at the very beginning on a lower fare promising good tip at the end.

We bargained a bit, nobody wanted to put the meter on and the ride was crazy long – over 1h due to heavy traffic.
I’m pretty sure we didn’t take the airport van but the yellow one.
Watch out – we arrived in the small internal flights terminal with no ATM! I had to beg the guards to let me in into departure to pick up the money. The ATMs around very too dodgy and some ‘nice’ security guys offered to accompany us to pick up money. Not the best experience.
        Good luck!

  60. Last Friday, My mother and my auntie ride a taxi from victory liner pasay to NAIA 1, then when they arrived at NAIA 1 my mother paying the taxi driver with 200 pesos, but doesn’t accept the payment because the fare cost 500 pesos. So I ask them that if they ask the driver to plug the taxi meter, my mother said no, my mother said “charge to experience”. But when they are going back to victory liner they ride again a metered taxi, so they ask the driver to plug down the taxi meter, so the taxi driver plug down his taxi meter, but when the taxi is already near the pasay victory liner, the taxi meter jump from 300 to 900 pesos, by my auntie came from Kuwait saw the driver pushes a button under the his seat, but they choose not to argue with the taxi driver, because they are ladies riding the taxi. Here is the taxi’s plate number – A-115 yellow cab.

  63. magkano po ba ang taxi from NAIA 3 to NAIA 2. gabi po ang dating ko, ano po ba ang safe na taxi na pwede kung kunin. meron bang shuttle bus from NAIA 3 to NAIA 2?

  64. Erwin Jonathan P. Buquing

  65. Hi,

I also heard the Yellow meters are very good compare to others. Can any one tell me from NAIA terminal 1 to Lingayen, Pangasinan, how much will it cost? and how long will it take me to go to Lingayen from the Airport?

Do we tip the yellow meter drivers as well? If so how much normally?
